Curriculum Chromæ

“Curriculum Chromæ” is a conceptual unit on color. Coming up with the -æ ending involves a linguistic play which echoes back to the term vitae and represents my long-standing research and reflections on color in this biographical endeavor.

For each primary and secondary color there is only one complementary, whose mix results in a neutral gray. When correctly positioned, they reach their maximum brightness. They exclude dispute, giving room to a strong light-dark contrast. Yellow on violet increases its brightness while violet on yellow appears darker than it actually is. Their combination creates simultaneously perfect contrast and harmony, substantiating the Pythagorean dictum: “harmony is a unity of many mixed [elements] and an agreement between disagreeing [elements]”. The presence of the QR code strengthens the impression resulting from the relationships being developed between the complementary colors, with gray marching at the vanguard as the outcome of their union.
